HISTORY LOOKS BREED STANDARD TEMPERAMENT



FIFe's breed standard, the standard Maine Coon is assessed according to shows when you are in a connected Sverak cat club.

Generally

Appearance Maine Coon cat is a great race with a head that gives a square impression. The ears are large and the cat BROAD-CHESTED. It has strong bones with a long, muscled, rectangular body and a long, flowing tail. Add to that a selected nose and you get a cat that gives the impression of strength and robustness.
Size: Large

Main

Shape: Medium in size, square contours.
Forehead: Slightly rounded
Cheeks: The High and well-marked cheeks.
Face /
Profile /
Muzzle: The Face and nose of medium length, with a square muzzle. A clear transition will be felt between muzzle and cheek.
Chin: Strong, vertical in line with nose and upper lip

Ear

Shape: Large, wide at the base. Moderately pointed. Lodjurstoffsar is desirable. Tufts of hair in the ears extend outside the ear's outer edge.
Location: High set with a very slight angle outward. The ears should be positioned with an aperture between öronbredds. The range extends slightly in older cats. The lower base ring is positioned slightly further back than the upper ear base.

Eye

Shape: Large and wide apart. Slightly oval, but not almond shaped, appear round when wide open. Sit easily crossed the outer ear base.
Color: All colors are permissible. There is no connection between eye and hair color.
A bright color on the eyes is undesirable.

Neck

Males have a very strong and muscular neck.

Body

Shape: The body is long, strong bones. Hard, muscular, powerful, BROAD-CHESTED.
Large, all parts of the body should be in proportion to create a rectangular appearance.

Legs

Strong, medium length to form a rectangle of the body.
Feet: Large, round and vältofsade between the toes.

Tail

At least as long as the body from shoulders to tail tip. Wide at the base tapering towards the top, with plenty of flowing hair. Tail hairs are long and always gentle.

Fur

Structure: Allväderspäls, thick. Short on the head, shoulders and legs, becoming gradually longer over the back and sides, with long, shaggy pants on hind legs, and fur on the belly. A frill is expected.
Silky quality. The coat is tight against your body, softly falling. The undercoat is soft and fine, covered with the coarse top coat.
Color: All colors are permitted, including colors, with white, except pointed patterns and chocolate, lilac, cinnamon and fawn. Any amount of white is allowed eg white blaze, white locket, white chest, white belly, white on the paws, etc.

Condition

Maine Coon should always be in good balance, condition and proportion.

Remarks

• The type must always be considered over the paint.
• A very slow development out of the breed should be taken into account.
• Males may have a wider and larger head than females.
• Females are proportionately smaller than males. This marked difference in size must be allowed.
• coat length and överpälsens density can vary with the seasons.

Lack of undercoat.
